    UNIVERSAL PROMISE is a 501(c)(3) that was founded in 2011 with a mission to achieve and sustain equity via education. We support that mission by providing individuals and institutions in underserved regions of South Africa with the academic resources needed to ensure educational and career opportunities that will promote just, civil, and hopeful societies. 
     
    JOB TITLE: Director of Development (part-time)

    TYPE: 20 hours weekly, flexible work hours, and compensation of $22/hour

    LOCATION: Rhode Island and hybrid

    SUMMARY: The Director of Development must be passionate about our vision of education as a central means by which to achieve and sustain equity and, at the same time, embrace our core values in the delivery of our mission. The Director of Development will work with the Executive Director to secure a broad range of financial support for our programs and projects. The Director of Development will report to the Executive Director.
     
    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

    Network extensively to attract more Education Sponsors and other new donors, foster our relationships with      existing donors, and oversee donor acknowledgements.

    Meet targeted year-over-year percentage increases in donors and funds raised as determined by the Board and the Executive Director.

    Design, execute, and evaluate diverse and relevant fundraising initiatives, such as corporate giving, annual          appeals, grants, speaking engagements, monthly fundraisers, #401Gives, the yearly gala, Education Sponsor            recruitment, and volunteer trips in South Africa.

    Collaborate with the grant writer and the Executive Director to review grant applications.

    Collaborate with the social media coordinator to expand brand visibility and increase donor engagement.

    Operate within the approved budget and ensure maximum resource utilization.

    Serve on the Fundraising & Marketing Committee of the Board.

    Help the Executive Director with other initiatives, as needed. 

    REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

    A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent service) and a minimum of two-years of experience in the non-profit sector,   specifically in non-profit fundraising and donor relations

    The candidate will share Universal Promise’s culture and values of accountability, inclusivity, sustainability, and   Ubuntu, a sub-Saharan philosophy that translates to “I am because of you” or humanity.

    The candidate will have a true interest in the South African culture and the country’s history.

    In addition, the candidate will have a well demonstrated
    o  ability to plan, prioritize, execute, meet deadlines for, and evaluate donor recruitment and fundraising efforts,
    ability to multitask, be attentive to details, and lead with integrity,
    command of verbal and written communication skills,
    understanding of marketing, public relations, and social media,
    ability to collect and use metrics and stories to broaden an understanding of and respect for our mission, and
    proficiency with Google Suite or MS Office Suite, Google Analytics, Google Ads (nonprofit) and how to maximize our $10,000 in monthly advertising, and virtual meeting tools.

    Travel is required.
