• MVYRADIO Summer Intern – This Week On Martha’s Vineyard

    Posted: 04/23/2024

MVYRADIO is accepting applications for a paid summer internship. We offer students hands-on broadcast radio experience in our Vineyard studios with concentrations of their choice, including production, programming, news, fundraising and sales.

For this specific opening, the intern will be tasked with creating a weekly “This Week On Martha’s Vineyard” calendar of events, that will exist as a webpage, and will also exist as an audio version, hosted by the intern. This content is specifically tailored for the Black/African American community. The intern may also attend public events on behalf of the station.

The ideal candidate for this position should have:

-A strong familiarity with the Black/African American community on Martha’s Vineyard; full-time resident, part-time resident, or summer visitor is a plus

-Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet weekly deadlines

-Attention to detail, in both their writing and in the conveying of information

-High comfort with sourcing information through phone calls and emails

-Basic audio production skills, including creating voiceovers

-Comfort with public events; transportation to attend

Ideally, work will occur from early June through the end of August, for 5 to 10 hours per week at a pay rate of $17/hour. The weekly schedule can be tailored to the individual intern. Interns are generally given a written letter of recommendation at the end of their time.

The station studios and offices are located on the island of Martha’s Vineyard. Please take housing into consideration when you apply.

Send your resume and cover letter to jobs@mvyradio.org

MVYRADIO is committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace and strongly encourages members of traditionally underrepresented communities to apply.

Some educational institutions require prior approval before the start of an internship. It is the responsibility of the student to check with their institution to be sure they meet any requirements before they accept a position.
