    Biden-Harris Administration Secures Commitments
from 20 Internet Providers to Cut Prices and Increase Speeds

High-speed internet service is no longer a luxury—it’s a necessity. High-speed internet is needed for children to learn, workers, to do their jobs, seniors, and others to access telemedicine, and how people participate in the 21st-century economy.
But too many families go without high-speed internet because of the cost or have to cut back on other essentials to make their monthly internet service payments.

Today, President Biden and Vice President Harris are outlining how they are reducing high-speed internet costs for millions Americans.
When passing the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the President and Vice President worked with Democrats, Republicans, and Independents to create the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP).
ACP provides eligible families $30/month off their internet bills.
About 48 million families are eligible for the program—nearly 40% of households.

The Biden-Harris Administration has secured commitments from 20 internet providers to cut prices and increase speeds for millions of households enrolled in ACP.
We’ve worked with some of the largest providers – like AT&T, Verizon, and Comcast – as well as smaller providers serving specific regions and rural communities.
Thanks to our work, these companies are cutting prices and increasing speeds to make sure ACP-eligible households can access high-speed, high-quality internet plans.
As a result, ACP-eligible families can get high-speed internet at no cost when choosing one of these plans.

This can reduce internet for Americans across the countries -- the companies cover 80% of the U.S. population across urban, suburban, and rural areas.
The Biden-Harris Administrations is also launching a comprehensive effort to make sure as many ACP-eligible households as possible take advantage of this new program:
Launching GetInternet.gov, an easy-to-use website with details on how Americans can sign up for ACP and find participating internet providers in their area.
Reaching out to eligible households through federal agencies, including households who qualify based on their income or through federal programs like Pell Grants, Medicaid, and more.
Partnering with states and cities – like Michigan, Massachusetts, Philadelphia, Mesa, Arizona, and New York City – to text millions of eligible households.
Collaborating with public interest organizations, including the United Way, Goodwill, Catholic Charities USA, and UnidosUS, who will train their national networks to conduct direct enrollment and outreach.
