    Free College Courses

College Unbound, in partnership with some of the libraries in RI, is offering two free summer courses for 3 college credits, starting June 9th, open to anyone, no strings attached. The courses are geared to helping the community in this difficult time.

One course is called “Your Career in the New Normal” and will feature local HR professionals and other experts that will help explain the current job market in RI and support people at all different levels in their career and job searches, in all size organizations, including gig workers, independent artists, and entrepreneurs. Students will be supported in re-framing their approach to finding a job or moving their careers forward in this unique time. The other course is titled “Contextualizing Covid” This course will offer an opportunity for people to ground, process and re-frame, either on their own with others in the course, or as a family, friend or professional community activity.

There will be a large group format for each of these courses offered once a week as well as small breakouts within that time frame, and outside it, to offer personalized support with TAs available. Each course can be fully taken online, however, as restrictions lift some organizations may want to host break out sessions in person with proper social distancing as well and TAs can be provided for that. Any organization can be a host organization. Some of the Providence libraries are prepared to host outside, safety permitting.
