Senator Jack Reed to address Newport business community at Politics & Pancakes event

United States Senator Jack Reed will visit Newport next month as the featured speaker for the Greater Newport Chamber of Commerce’s third quarterly Politics & Pancakes event, scheduled for Thursday, August 7th.
The breakfast event, held in partnership with The Pell Center at Salve Regina University and sponsored by Bally’s Corporation, will take place at The Pell Center on Bellevue Avenue. Rhode Island’s senior senator is expected to discuss recent federal legislative developments and their potential impacts on the state’s business community.
Reed, a Democrat who has served in the Senate since 1997, previously represented Rhode Island’s 2nd congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1991 to 1997. The lawyer-turned-politician has been a fixture in Rhode Island politics for over three decades.
“We look forward to getting keen insights into recent federal legislative activity and expected impacts on the RI business community from our esteemed senior Senator, Jack Reed,” said Erin Donovan-Boyle, President & CEO of the Greater Newport Chamber.
The Politics & Pancakes series serves as a platform for government officials and leaders to address issues important to local businesses. Throughout the year, the program welcomes various political figures including the Governor, General Assembly members, and Congressional Delegation representatives to discuss policy matters affecting Rhode Islanders.
Each event includes admission and a full buffet breakfast, with opportunities for networking before and after the speaking program. The August 7th event will be held at The Pell Center, located at 518 Bellevue Avenue in Newport, with free on-site parking available.
