The Greater Newport Chamber of Commerce will hear from United States Senator Jack Reed as the special guest speaker for its third quarterly Politics & Pancakes event on Thursday, August 7th. The series, hosted in partnership with The Pell Center at Salve Regina University, is sponsored by Bally’s Corporation.
Reed is the ranking Democrat on the Senate's Armed Services Committee, and Aquidneck Island has a substantial defense industry.
“We look forward to getting keen insights into recent federal legislative activity and expected impacts on the RI business community from our esteemed senior Senator, Jack Reed,” stated Erin Donovan-Boyle, President & CEO of the Greater Newport Chamber.
According to the Chamber, the Politics & Pancakes series is dedicated to bringing government officials and leaders to the area for speaking programs and panel discussions on issues of importance to the local business community. Each year, the series welcomes the Governor, members of the General Assembly, members of the Congressional Delegation, and others to speak on policy issues impacting Rhode Islanders.
For each event, tickets include admission and a full buffet breakfast. Guests enjoy hearing from the keynote speakers as well as networking before and after the speaking program.
