Chamber Board of Directors Support the Governor’s Proposed Investment in Education Facilities
Middletown, RI- The Newport County Chamber of Commerce is one of Rhode Island's largest business advocacy organizations formed to enhance the business, civic and economic vitality of Newport County and greater Rhode Island. Our purpose is to leverage the region's core assets to find solutions in the areas that matter most to the business and community, quality jobs, quality growth and quality of life.
As such, the Newport County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors supports Governor Gina Raimondo’s effort to put the statewide investment in school facilities program proposal on the ballot in November as a statewide referendum. In so doing, we support the jobs that will be created by these infrastructure projects and believe this is an appropriate role for state and municipal government, assuming the people of the state and each municipality willing to participate in the program, approve. We believe supporting the public education system on many fronts is an economic development issue that will enable the state to better position itself for future generations and meet workforce needs identified by the business community, as well as prove to be a talent attraction tool for growth and expansion into the State of Rhode Island.
The Newport County Chamber of Commerce is the second largest chamber in the state with nearly 1100 members representing over 50,000 employees. We help businesses succeed.
