    About Us

    The Redwood Library & Athenaeum, chartered in 1747, is a National Historic Landmark and the first public Neo-Classical building in America. Open daily to the public, the Redwood is a membership library and the oldest lending library in the country. The Redwood features a portrait gallery and changing exhibitions, and presents a varied program of lectures, symposia, music, children's activities and special events.
