    Job description

    The James L. Maher Center is in need of an enthusiastic, smart, and energetic Human Resources Assistant to help ensure our HR department runs seamlessly and efficiently.

    This role involves working closely with the HR Administrator and all departments aiding them in their hiring needs. The ideal candidate will have a patient and proactive mindset, fantastic organizational and time management skills, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. The position is on-site in Middletown, RI.


    Review resumes and pass along qualified candidates to hiring managers
    Post and update job descriptions on job boards and keep applicant tracking system updated
    Organize and schedule all interviews for candidates and team members
    Support the Human Resources department with any projects as needed
    Assist with onboarding checklists for incoming employees
    Initiate and monitor background checks and all onboarding paperwork
    Update and maintain accurate personnel records and human resources files
    Assist with administration of employee benefits plans including healthcare, life, disability, and other health and welfare benefits programs

    Manage FMLA request and associated paperwork.

    Handle related DLT paperwork/hearings

    Process 1st injury reports and associated paperwork
    Work with HR Administrator to process bi-weekly payroll
    Adhere to procedures, standards, and guidelines

    Performs other duties as assigned


    Associate’s degree strongly preferred, but not required
    1-2 years of experience in a role related to Human Resources or Administrative support
    Full-cycle recruiting experience is not required, but strongly preferred
    Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
    Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    Detail-oriented with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while keeping composure

    Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team

    Valid driver’s license

    A favorable Background check

    Rate will be based on experience.

    Job Type: Full-time
