East Bay Community Action Program (EBCAP) is seeking several full time and/or part time staff for temporary Testing Support Specialist positions for our Health Center at 6 John H. Chafee Boulevard in Newport, RI. The Testing Support Specialists will report to the Nurse Manager and will provide clinical and/or administrative support to the Health Center COVID-19 testing operations. The Testing Support Specialist interacts with patients requiring testing for COVID-19 and members of the multidisciplinary team in a community health setting.
The Testing Support Specialist performs all assigned tasks by following Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) requirements with respect to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to maximize protection and minimize risk. Duties include, but are not limited to: assisting with traffic control around the testing site, greeting patients and assisting to make the testing process informative and comfortable, verifying identify of patient, completing documentation, reviewing symptoms and/or exposure history, instructing patients how to perform self-administered rapid test, collecting specimen for clinical testing personnel, and recording/reporting results. Successful candidates must be committed to providing quality customer service while handling confidential information in a highly professional manner.
The Testing Support Specialist requires a minimum of high school diploma/GED. Candidates level of licensing (if any) will determine which additional/different tasks he/she can perform under EBCAPs licensing and accreditation standards with respect to testing, and potentially vaccinations. Licenses in Emergency Medical Response (Paramedic, Advanced EMT-Cardiac) and Licensed Practical Nursing will be considered for inclusion in future vaccination clients as well. The COVID-19 testing hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM and Saturday 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. These temporary positions are for four to six months. Bilingual Portuguese and/or Spanish is a plus, however, not required.
