    PURVIS has an immediate full-time position open for a Mechanical Designer/Drafter who is proficient with AutoCAD. Candidate will be a member of the engineering design/drafting team and will provide technical support to a variety of U.S. Navy projects.

    The day-to-day responsibilities of this role include:

    • Support U.S Navy submarine system designs, drawings, and technical data packages.
    • Mechanical foundation design, typically for commercial off-the-shelf equipment
    • Develop and maintain 3D models utilizing Autodesk Inventor or Solidworks.
    • Develop and maintain 2D drawings utilizing AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel.
    • Analysis of documentation for equipment installed within data packages
    • Review of government furnished information (GFI) and engineering drawing redlines to incorporate into drawing packages as required.
    • Revise, update and maintain mechanical drawing packages using AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel.
    • Ensure designs/drawings comply with standard drafting practices, as well as specific U.S. Navy standards and practices, including ASME Y14.5.

    Qualifications:

    • 1 - 4 years professional experience in mechanical system design and/or U.S. Navy submarine design.
    • Ability to review engineering drawings and understand required changes.
    • Ability to work closely with Subject Matter Experts and U.S. Navy military and civilian personnel.
    • Ability to travel to U.S. Navy bases to perform ship checks onboard U.S. Navy submarines
    • Proficiency with AutoCAD required.
    • Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor or Solidworks required.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Excel and Word preferred.
    • Technical school or Associates degree in an engineering discipline is a plus.
    • Knowledge of existing submarine systems, Military Specifications, and previous defense industry is a plus.

    Candidate must be able to obtain a government security clearance to the level of SECRET.
