    About IYRS School of Technology & Trades: Our Mission

    IYRS School of Technology & Trades is a non-profit, post-secondary experiential learning institution in Newport, Rhode Island. Mission: IYRS empowers students through immersive, hands-on learning to realize their full potential in career and in life.

    IYRS offers five certificate programs for people interested in careers in the marine trades and modern manufacturing. IYRS students are passionate about thinking and working through hands-on learning to develop skills and problem-solving abilities. IYRS was named a Best Maker School by Newsweek Magazine in 2021.

    IYRS is an accredited, postsecondary certificate-granting technology and trade school. IYRS is accredited through the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC), therefore all Admissions team members must sign and adhere to the ACCSC Code of Conduct.

    Primary functions and purpose of this position

    The Director of Admission is responsible for leading the Admissions team in realizing the school’s annual enrollment goals by deepening the public’s understanding of the IYRS educational experience and converting prospective students to enrolled students. They are responsible for the direction and results of all recruitment events, admissions decisions, and enrollment activities including strategy, budget, and project management as well as partnership building. The Director of Admissions is a member of the Senior Management Team.

    Major Responsibilities:

    • Implement a strategic recruitment plan, budget, and execution plan to meet annual enrollment goals in coordination with the Marketing Department
    • Personally enroll 50% or more of the annual enrollment
    • Identify new and grow existing recruitment partnerships and channels in coordination with the Marketing team
    • Administer admissions interviews, informational, and qualifying calls
    • Make sure the Admissions team thoroughly understands our programs and interacts with faculty and students to assure we are proving accurate and up-to-date information for recruitment and enrollment purposes
    • Supervise the Admission team by providing consistent feedback to help achieve department and individual goals including team training, admissions criteria review, accreditor ACCSC’s compliance requirements, and data quality
    • Manage all Admissions recruitment events and Admissions communications
    • Continuously improve and document the Admissions policies and practices to improve process effectiveness
    • Manage Admissions data using HubSpot and assure process optimization including contacts, lists, email marketing, and reporting
    • Prepare the agenda and lead the weekly Enrollment Team Meetings
    • Prepare and communicate projections (enrollment against goals) and student rosters with other teams and for Board Committees
    • Manage recruitment event preparation including email invites, reminders, attendance, agenda, presentations, tours, and follow-up and debriefs
    • Manage New Student Orientation with the Student Services team including distributing and collecting new student forms, new student surveys, and organizing student activities on the Orientation Days
    • Manage Admissions team projects for recruitment events and communications
    • Help develop written and video resources for recruitment and admissions in coordination with the Marketing Director and the President
    • coordinates with the Director of Education and the program instructors seeking their advice and assistance in the recruitment process.
    • works with Career Development to answer any questions prospective students may have about career outcomes

    Education and Experience Requirements:

    • College degree or equivalent life experience
    • Managed, trained, or coached a team of individuals
    • Familiar with the admissions process
    • Customer Service experience
    • Proficient in MS Office
    • HubSpot experience not required but preferred

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: $68,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
