Organizational Overview
Located in the heart of Newport's historic district, IYRS School of Technology & Trades is a non-profit, post-secondary experiential learning institution. Our 3-acre harbor-front campus houses amazing facilities with traditional and state-of-the-art equipment. Our mission is to empower students through immersive, hands-on learning to realize their full potential in careers and in life.
IYRS offers four certificate programs for people interested in careers in the marine trades and modern manufacturing. IYRS students are passionate about thinking and working through hands-on learning to develop skills and problem-solving abilities. IYRS was named a Best Maker School by Newsweek Magazine in 2021.
Primary functions and purpose of this positionThe Development Associate will help support the Development Department by cultivating relationships with donors, foundations, alumni, students, and industry partners. The Development Associate will assist in all forms of communication with constituents and provide administrative assistance to the department as requested.
Major Responsibilities
- Cultivate and communicate with existing donors, ensuring the highest quality of customer service (Thank You Letters, Acknowledgement Letters, List Segmentation, etc.);
- Analyze donations, create list segmentation and assist in the creation of solicitation materials;
- Manage customized mailings for all levels of donors;
- Manage and maintain data in the donor CRM (Bloomerang) to ensure timeliness and accuracy of data being detailed;
- Assist with constituent cultivation across all donor segments through direct communication (email, phone calls, traditional mail, etc...);
- Cultivate new relationships, and identify new prospects across a variety of resources, i.e. social networking;
- Maintain and update the grant proposal calendar and ensure timely submissions
- With Director of Philanthropy, create grant proposals and funding reports for donors
- Research and identify new grant opportunities
- Generate weekly giving reports
- Reconcile donation data with the finance department monthly and quarterly
- Be the in-house database lead, actively working on process and systems refinement and protocols
- Work with the Director of Philanthropy and Associate Director of Community Relations on ad-hoc requests;
- Broaden industry skills through continuing education courses related to fundraising
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, meet multiple often overlapping deadlines and work long hours when required;
Educational and Experience Requirements- Bachelor's degree preferred and/or 3-4 years' experience in non-profit development;

Salary Range and Benefits- Annual salary $45,000 - $50,000
