    PLEASE CIRCULATE AND POSTNEWPORT PUBLIC SCHOOLSNEWPORT, RHODE ISLANDMAY 2021 POSITION: Information Systems TechnicianGENERAL DUTIES: Perform district-wide student and staff related information processing including student/staff registration, enrollment, attendance staff reporting, school, district, State/Federal reporting, and provide Help Desk support for all district databases.REPORTS TO: Director of Technology and SIS ManagerQUALIFICATIONS: 1. High School diploma required, Associates Degree preferred or other formal post-secondary technical training with a minimum of at least three-years of successful experience as a data support position with practical experience working in an educational technology support capacity.2. Proficient with all aspects of the RIDE required reporting.3. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.4.

    Excellent organizational and management skills.5. Ability to multitask.6. Poficient with GSuite, PowerSchool Special Programs, Aspen SIS, Frontline, eRide, Ride Portal, BlackBoard.7. Highly motivated with attention to detailRESPONSIBILITIES: 1.

    Ensure data integrity by complying with district and State data-dictionary standards and performing routine data verification activities.2. Maintain a trail of all work completed via help desk software.3. Export/Import data from electronic systems such as student data system, staff data system, Special Education data system, State systems, school-to-parent communication system, and state and local assessment and reporting systems, etc. Verify the accuracy of each export/import and data bridge connections.4.

    Electronic submission of State/Federal related data, including all RIDE required reporting.5. Research and resolve errors pertaining to student and staff data in various applications.6. Participate in group and one-on-one training, develop help guides and documentation.7. Participate in setup, completion and implementation of District policy and procedures related to data entry to optimize data integrity and security.8.

    Other related duties as assigned.UNDERSTANDING OF: 1. Principles of electronic data entry, secure data record handling and management.2. Modern technology, including computer proficiency, daily use of common software such as MS Office, Windows, Internet, etc.3. Sophisticated data processing systems including student data systems, staff data systems, special education data system, school-to-parent communication system and NGSA reporting systems, etc.4.

    Effective oral communication and interpersonal skills.CAPABILITY TO: 1. Efficiently maintain school software applications such as; student information system, special education student data system, staff information system, mass communications system, RIDE reporting system, etc.2. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, Access and SQL to include exports, imports, filtering, sorting, matching and reporting.3. Create and maintain databases that are accurate and timely.4.

    Problem-solve and research complex problems, where multiple sources are referenced for resolution.TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve-month position; appropriate salary/benefits as established for all administrative positions.
