The Blue & You Series: Sustainability Toolbox with 11th Hour Racing
Do you want to establish a sustainability program within your organization, but don’t know where to start? Do you want to be part of a movement towards a just and sustainable future? Come and hear from the sustainability team at Newport’s offshore sailing outfit 11th Hour Racing Team. They’ve created The Sustainability Toolbox, which is a suite of guides, tools and templates created by 11th Hour Racing Team for the purpose of establishing a sustainability program within any organization, no matter the size or industry sector.
The Toolbox was created to help make sustainability more accessible, based on the ethos that ‘when we share, everyone wins.’ The value of The Toolbox is the community that creates, uses and maintains it. We know that the sustainable transition is mission critical, but it is easy to be overwhelmed with the scale of the challenge and where to even begin. The purpose of the framework is to empower teams and organizations with a set of tools to enable them to join the movement towards a just and sustainable future.

“The Blue & You: Understanding Our Blue Economy” summer speaker series will run for a second year in a row. These educational sessions, led by panels of experts, are offered to the general public. Considering Rhode Island has 400 miles of coastline, the blue economy has always been a vital component of the state and Greater Newport’s economy. In recent years, there has been a renewed focus on redefining the term and reenergizing efforts around making Rhode Island a regional hub for blue economy and blue tech. These sessions provide information that will help residents understand what the blue economy is and how it impacts them.
