    State House Activity
    The State House remains closed until further notice.  The State House will be lit in red lights to honor all first responders as they work to keep the rest of us safe.
     
    Eggs and Issues
    Due to the coronavirus, the Chamber has rescheduled the Eggs and Issues breakfast with the Speaker of the House to September 22nd.  You will be receiving a notice as the time approaches.
     
    Lt. Governor Host Small Business Forums
    Lieutenant Governor Dan McKee is hosting business forum conference calls for small businesses on Tuesdays and Fridays at noon (12:00 p.m.).  If you would like to participate, Call 866-880-0098 and use the following passcode number:  54933514# Phone-in attendance has been high, so please place your telephone on mute while the conference call is underway.
     
    Secretary of State Business Services Update
    In an effort to protect the health and safety the Secretary of State’s office has implemented the following changes to the operation of the Business Services Division.

    • All walk-in services have been suspended until further notice.
    • Customers are encouraged to use the new Business Services website to register their business, file annual reports, update information and obtain letters of good standing.
    • Filings that cannot be processed online can be mailed or submitted by using a new dropbox that has been installed at 148 West River Street, Providence, RI 02904.
    • Limited in-person service is available by appointment. To schedule an appointment, call (401) 222-3040.
    • Appointments will be accepted Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
    • All in-person Notary Public training is suspended until further notice. If you have any questions about Notary services call (401) 222-3040 or email notaries@sos.ri.gov.
    • All in-person SCORE mentoring sessions are suspended until further notice.
    • Business Services staff will be available Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to assist customers over the phone at (401) 222-3040 or via email at corporations@sos.ri.gov.
     
    Presidential Primary Date Moved
    The Secretary of State Nellie Gorbea reminds everyone that the Presidential Primary has been moved to Tuesday, June 2nd.   The new voter registration deadline is May 3rd.  Mail ballot applications are due April 7th, so if you have not filled one out yet, you will likely have to vote in person unless further changes to the procedure are made.
