The partnership of the Rhode Island Commerce Corporation, the John H. Chafee Center for International Business at Bryant University, and the United States Department of Commerce, U.S. Export Assistance Center offer a wide-range of export promotion services to help Rhode Island businesses assess global markets.
Programs include:
Customized Market Research and Export Readiness Assessments
International specialists and student researchers help clients assess their export readiness, select the right markets for their products, and find partners in those markets. The partnership also develops international business plans, export compliance plans, and offers a myriad of other trade related services.
State Trade Expansion Program (STEP)
Step is a national export initiative which makes matching funds awards to states to assist small businesses in entering and expanding into international markets.
Administered by the U.S. Small Business Administration's Office of International Trade, and the Chafee Center for International Business in Rhode Island, the program's objectives are to increase the number of U.S. small businesses that export and to increase the value of exports by small businesses. .https://commerceri.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/STEP-FY18-FlyerV3-oct2018.pdf
US Department of Commerce Services
The U.S. Commercial Service, part of the U.S. Department of Commerce's International Trade Administration, offers companies a full range of expertise in international trade. Companies can find matchmaking and market research assistance in more than 70 international offices. https://www.export.gov/services
International Trade Shows
Domestic and international trade shows are an effective way to introduce Rhode Island companies to potential business partners, produce export sales from the show floor, and offer a high return on investment. The Chafee Center coordinates Rhode Island and Best of New England booths at designated international trade shows. Trade show support includes booth design, state branding, marketing materials, and event execution.
Trade Missions
International Trade Missions provide Rhode Island exporters customized meetings with potential foreign trade partners and networking opportunities with key government officials and business organizations. Trade missions are particularly useful for first time exporters or companies that have had difficulty expanding into a particular market. Missions are turn-key solutions with support for in-country and international logistics, accommodations, transportation, translators, and business meetings.
International Business (IB) Practicum
The IB490 International Business Practicum capstone course is a combination of global business strategy and practical business experience. The program matches teams of Bryant University business students with Rhode Island exporters, providing market solutions that include: identification, analysis and design of market entry plans, and the development of competitive strategies for new global markets.Tell a Friend
