Minimum Wage Increase on October 1, 2020

The RI minimum wage is increasing to $11.50 on October 1, 2020. The tipped minimum wage will remain at $3.89.

Minimum Wage: $11.50 / hour

Tipped Employees: $3.89 / hour

Tip Credit:  $7.61

Overtime: $17.25

Federal and State Law requires payment of one and one half (1 ½ ) the regular wage rate for any hours worked in excess of 40 hours in any work week. For multi-unit operations with similar ownership overtime must be paid for all hours worked over 40 hours, regardless of which location worked.

Overtime Tipped Employees: 

$11.50 x 1.5 =  $ 17.25 / hour 

minus tip credit $ 7.61 / hour 

 equals  $9.64 / hour
