Greater Newport Chamber of Commerce Urges Local Businesses to Begin Preparing for Restore RI Small Business Grant Program

Newport, RI, July 30, 2020 - On Wednesday, the Raimondo Administration officially announced the Restore RI Grant program. Part of a $100M package of programs to provide relief for RI small businesses, this $50M program is targeted at businesses with under 500 employees that have been most severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, including government regulations that limited business activity.

As a partner organization with RI Commerce Corporation, The Greater Newport Chamber of Commerce will be an ongoing resource for information and guidance throughout the application process, which opens up on Monday, August 3, 2020.  Greater Newport Chamber of Commerce executive director, Erin Donovan-Boyle states, “We look forward to continuing to help the business community navigate these difficult times by acting as a resource and source of support for these grants. We want all businesses to review the grant application process as soon as possible at the link provided and please begin gathering the required documents so that you will be ready to submit the grant once the application is open. This is a first come first serve grant opportunity and we want our businesses to be prepared for this opportunity.”
All eligible businesses are encouraged to prepare paperwork as soon as possible, including documenting the sales loss between the 2nd quarter of 2019 and the second quarter of 2020, and acquiring a DUNS number if necessary. Full details on requirements for application as per Commerce RI, including instruction on DUNS numbers, can be found at: https://link.edgepilot.com/s/e2364c28/9_vSObG150eJbqaHBOxI5w?u=http://www.commerceri.com/. Businesses in need of a DUNS number are urged to obtain this immediately.

The Chamber will be posting more information in the coming days re: FAQ, Office Hours, virtual programming, and general counseling.
