Event Description: The Edna Open, a friendly gold tournament to benefit the Visiting Nurse Services of Newport and Bristol Counties, will be held on Monday afternoon, July 30, starting with registration at noon. The Middletown Wanumetonomy Golf and Country Club will host the golf tournament, where 18 holes of play with cart, hamburgers at registration, a Steak Fry awards banquet, and more fun than can be imagined is offered for $125 (dinner only is $45). Foursomes as well as individual registrations are accepted. The Edna Open benefits VNS Hospice services. The tournament was organized in 1994 by the family of Newport's Edna Schwartz to honor her life. Sine the, the Edna Open has expanded to also remember Kathy O'Brien Franks and brothers Jay and Jerold Schwartz, who were all cared for at the end of life by VNS Hospice. Hole sponsorships, award naming opportunities, and silent auctio donations are most welcome.
