Event Description: Hospice Volunteer Training Offered by Visiting Nurse Services of Newport & Bristol Counties Portsmouth, RI -- A six-week Hospice Volunteer Training program will be offered by Visiting Nurse Services of Newport & Bristol Counties beginning on Thursday, April 5 and running for 6 consecutive Thursdays ending on May 10th. Classes will be held from 9:00am until 1:00pm. at the Portsmouth, RI office at 1184 East Main Rd. Visiting Nurse Services of Newport & Bristol Counties offers Hospice services to people with terminal illnesses who live in Newport and Bristol Counties. Hospice volunteers provide companionship and comfort for patients, respite for caregivers and assistance with errands or the preparation of meals. Hospice volunteers also help with special events, fund-raising, and clerical tasks. Registration and interviews are required to participate in the program. No health care experience is necessary.
