Getting Around Newport via Public Transportation:
Newport’s public transportation and visitor
information hub is RIPTA makes exploring the City-by-the-Sea a breeze. RIPTA provides
trolley and bus service to attractions throughout Newport, including the
mansions, Cliff Walk, beaches, Fort Adams, downtown Newport, the Gateway
Center, and more. Riders can choose to either buy a day pass at the
Gateway Center or pay as they go. RIPTA riders pay just $2 for all-day
parking at the Gateway Center and receive discounts to many area

Ferry from Providence RIPTA offers ferry service between Newport and Providence from May-October, departing from Conley’s Wharf/Providence Piers at 180 Allens Avenue in Providence and arriving at Perrotti Park in downtown Newport, one block from the Gateway Center.
