Chafee created the Exchange to ensure RI Small businesses and consumers affordable health insurance.&amp;nbsp; The Exchange has been dedicated to making it easier for employers and their employees to get comparisons from health insurance companies allowing them to make clearer and more affordable choices.&amp;nbsp; The Exchange is scheduled to be operational in the fall 2013.&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: segoe ui;"&gt;The Newport County Chamber of Commerce will be hosting an Economic Update on the Health Exchange on June 11th from 10:00 &amp;ndash; 12:00 a.m. at the Ramada Inn, East Main Road, Middletown.&amp;nbsp; This event will allow the chance for Chamber members to discover what the Exchange means to them and their employees.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; The Economic Update will consist of a panel of experts associated with the developing Exchange.&amp;nbsp; Currently the panel includes Christine C. Ferguson - Director of the Rhode Island Health Benefits Exchange, Jeff Rich - CEO of Health Services Administrators, and Dr. G Alan Kurose, MD, F.A.C.P, Coastal Medical, President.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: segoe ui;"&gt;BIOS&lt;br /&gt;
Christine Ferguson, Director of the Rhode Island Health Benefits Exchange, State of Rhode Island.&amp;nbsp; Ms. Ferguson is a professor at George Washington University focusing on health policy and health insurance issues. From 2003-2005, Ms. Ferguson served as Commissioner of the Department of Public Health in Massachusetts where she oversaw the Department of Public Health and the Department of Health Care Finance and Policy. From 1995 to 2001, Ms. Ferguson ran the Rhode Island Department of Human Services. Prior to that, she served as counsel and deputy chief of staff to the late U.S. Senator John H. Chafee from 1981-1995. Ms. Ferguson holds a B.A. from the University of Michigan and a J.D. from Washington College of Law, American University.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: segoe ui;"&gt;G. Alan Kurose, MD, F.A.C.P has served as President and CEO of Coastal Medical since 2008. Kurose is leading Coastal Medical&amp;rsquo;s efforts to improve the health and healthcare of the patients we serve and to improve the experience of care for every patient who visits a Coastal office.&amp;nbsp; He is a strong proponent of the Patient Centered Medical Home model of care, which emphasizes expanded patient access along with team based, coordinated care for each patient, across every part of the healthcare system.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
