Design Newport opens to invigorate seaside decorating
Designer and Collector Join to Open Romantic Interior Design Studio on Bellevue Avenue
Michael Valvo, creative director of red M studio and Stella Martin, grand objects maven, announced today the opening of Design Newport, a modern and romantic interior design studio. The collection and design is a smart update of Newport’s “gilded age,” rooted in a modern classic vocabulary. Valvo and Martin were inspired by the seaside area and brought their expertise together to create a studio that will help Newport inhabitants discover their individual style
“Stella and I have worked together for years,” said Valvo, “she has an incredibly sharp eye for finding elegantly scaled antiques, paintings and objects. We were on a research trip when we discovered 121 Bellevue Avenue, in that moment we knew that it was our job to reawaken the storefront with great style.”
Rounding out the studio talent is local architectural designer Chris Fagan. Fagan, a Skidmore graduate, joins the team offering his skills in architectural drawing and built-ins, historic preservation and planning.
Additionally, luxury article and fragrance company Santa Maria Novella (LAFCONY featured on Oprah) granted Design Newport selling rights to their products as part of its full service home design.
Join Valvo and Martin for drinks and refreshments to celebrate the opening of Design Newport. All are invited to the grand opening party 5-9 p.m. Friday, July 2, 2010..
