Chamber to meet Tuesday at Oceancliff
NEWPORT — The Newport County Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual meeting on Tuesday at Oceancliff Hotel and Resort, 65 Ridge Road.
Jeanne Hulit, SBA New England regional administrator, is the featured speaker. She will present “Small Business — Rhode Island’s Future.” Hulit was appointed SBA’s regional administrator in August 2009 and is responsible for delivering the agency’s financial assistance, technical assistance and government contracting activities throughout the six New England states.
The meeting will include the chamber’s annual report to members and presentation of the 2010 Community Fund Awards. The Newport County Chamber of Commerce created the Newport County Community Fund to recognize the critical role nonprofit members play in building and sustaining a healthy community.
This year, four member agencies will receive $1,000 awards for outstanding nonprofit projects. The 2010 winners are: Child & Family; the East Bay Community Action Program; the Potter League for Animals; and the Seamen’s Church Institute. The chamber’s 2010 slate of officers and new board members will be introduced at the annual meeting. A cocktail and hors d’oeuvres reception will follow the presentation.
