National Trust for Historic Preservation
The National Trust for Historic Preservation has named Newport, RI, as one of the "Dozen Distinctive Destinations" in the United States, citing the City By The Sea's treasure trove of colonial architecture and historic houses of worship, among other qualities.

Vernon Court (1898),Stoneacre (1884) and adjacent properties, comprising six acres, on Bellevue Avenue at Newport, Rhode Island, are now the National Museum of American Illustration.


Newport and Bristol are two of the historic focal points of America's colonial past.
