Newport County Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the URI Coastal Resources Center and RI Sea Grant recognize the importance of keeping our businesses in business, and being a resilient community.
Businesses in Newport County can take this brief questionnaire less than 10 minutes in length, and begin to Know Your Risk, Make a Plan and Take Action to address such risks.
Superstorm Sandy, just 5 years ago, was a wake-up call for many of us in Rhode Island. Recent disasters in Houston, Florida and the Caribbean show all too clearly the potential impacts of coastal storms, wind and flooding on our communities. Newport County is also vulnerable to flooding from extreme high tides, rising seas and intense storms, putting businesses and our communities at risk.
Luckily, Rhode Island has a variety of tools designed to help identify and understand coastal risks and conditions and enable informed decisions.
Newport County businesses can click here, take this brief questionnaire as a starting point towards action. The team at URI’s Coastal Resources Center/RI Sea Grant will then compile your responses and return a customized package of tools to help you manage those concerns. Your responses will not be shared or used for other purposes.
Once you submit your questionnaire, the team will contact you directly with tools you may find useful based on specific needs. For more information, check out URI CRC Resilience Tools or contact Chris Condit firstname.lastname@example.org at URI Coastal Resources Center/RI Sea Grant
